I) The UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE from VELOGICAL is the pioneering system component for comprehensive on-board power supply on bicycles. The advantages of a USB charger and generator-fed LED lighting technology are combined in one device and centrally controlled – versatile, powerful, simple.

II) This electronic component works particularly powerful in conjunction with the VELOGICAL 3-PHASE GENERATOR or a classic hub dynamo (6V/3W). The power of the miniaturised VELOGICAL 3-PHASE GENERATOR with 3 current-carrying cables outstrips conventional AC dynamos with 2 cables and excels in extremely smooth running. Operating this versatile device combination is very simple. Select connection, connect, and you`re done, while the technology operates in the background.

Field of application

The device combination with single-cell battery buffering enables a particularly strong power supply for USB devices and for LED bicycle lighting (incl. daytime running light and parking light) at full brightness – at low and high speed.

USB devices (e.g. smartphones) can be charged or recharged efficiently with time advantage with the UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE. LED bicycle lights of the dynamo type (alternating current/AC) and of the e-bike type (direct current/DC) can be connected for the first time plug & play to the electronic module, to the cable connections for the respective lamp type. There is an automatic coupling between the generator type used and the connected loads.

With the VELO ON-BOARD POWER SUPPLY, three-phase current technology is introduced for the first time in the bicycle sector, as it has been standard in the entire automotive sector since the 1970s.
The device combination enables a particularly powerful power supply with single-cell battery buffering: for USB devices and for LED bicycle lighting at constant full luminosity (incl. daytime running lights and parking lights).
The electronics of the UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE works unusually efficient not only at low speed, but is also particularly voltage resistant at very high speeds up to 100kph.
The VELOGICAL UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE always operates in the optimum range regardless of speed. To this end, it uses two technologies that are new to bicycle technology: Maximum Power Point Tracking/MPPT and Active Rectifier for minimum power loss in the low speed range.
The power of the miniaturised VELOGICAL 3-PHASE GENERATOR with 3 current-carrying cables outstrips conventional AC dynamos with 2 cables and excels in extremely smooth running.
USB devices (e.g. smartphones) can be charged or recharged in realistic time with the UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE.
For the first time, LED bicycle lights of the dynamo type (alternating current/AC) and of the e-bike type (direct current/DC) can be connected plug & play to the electronic module via the cable connections for the respective lamp type. Coupling between the used generator type and the connected consumers is automatic.

The UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE is very compact.
The VELOGICAL 3-PHASE GENERATOR and the UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE do not require a German K-number or StVZO (German Road Traffic Licensing Regulation) approval.

Power measurement with the VELOGICAL UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE

We measured the maximum available power behind the rectifier of the electronics.
Wheel size on the test bench 26 inches (not significant for rim-generator), hub dynamos versions for 26, 28 inches.

    (……) I have the generator and the power source in use for a few hundred kilometers. Actually works very well, as expected. Currently,"only" an iPhone SE2 is connected, fixed on a QuadLock bracket, wirelessly charged on the handlebars via Qi. For my taste, the setup is wired clean/invisible and in heavy rain, a silicone poncho simply comes over the iPhone. I don't have to plug in cables. Light rain or a few drops don't do anything, because the iPhone is sufficiently safe.
    The charging current is more than sufficient for charging when navigating while driving. I do this online through Komoot. No power saving mode is active. Holding the charging level is no problem at all. Yes, Apple's charging power is limited to 7.5 watts and the efficiency of induction charging is lower than charging using a cable, but it still works and is practical.
    I still get power for the front and rear lights from the hub dynamo. I ride a classic touring bike. The power supply via the hub dynamo was usually a problem on tours lasting several days or weeks.
