Battery buffered power management UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE
Optimal energy generation and storage while cycling
On long bike tours, seize the chance to store as much as possible of the energy generated by the powerful VELOGICAL 3-PHASE POWER GENERATOR. As soon as the buffer battery of the UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE with its energy content of 10.7 watt hours is filled, you can connect a power bank on the USB side for charging.
“Soshine E4S“, the proven power bank, can power USB consumers while charging at the same time. There are numerous procurement sources online. Scope of delivery of the Soshine E4S: Powerbank without batteries, USB cable (USB standard – Micro USB), instruction manual. Two single battery cells type Li-Ion “Samsung INR 18650 29E” (or comparable) may be purchased separately. For pre-charging, we use a regular charger/power supply with Micro USB plug B-type.
Important for simultaneous power requirements for the lighting system and USB consumers
On long night rides at low speeds, it is recommended to disconnect all consumers from the USB port so that the full capacity of the buffer battery is only available to support the lighting. Therefore, disconnect all consumers from the USB port in good time before darkness sets in to ensure that the buffer battery is as fully charged as possible.
 Technical information on the buffer battery
At delivery, the buffer battery of the UNIVERSAL POWER SOURCE is half-charged to trickle charge. At start-up (rotor rotation of the generator), the charging electronics wake up and signal with 2 of 5 beep tones. 1 tone equals 20% charge volume. After 5 minutes at standstill, the charger switches off with 1 beep and so does the parking light of the LED lighting. When the buffer battery is empty and the light is switched on, the light supply from the generator has priority.

The maximum lighting duration of LED headlights can be estimated on the basis of the energy content of the fully charged buffer battery of 10.7 watt hours, depending upon on power consumption and performance.
